Let’s face it, there are people out there who are just snobs, thinking they are better than everyone else, whether it be because they are smarter, richer, more educated, etc. And it’s no secret there are some parts of the country considered snobbier than others, and now a new report reveals where you’re likely to encounter snobs the most.
- In case you missed it, career site Zippia has come out with their picks for the Snobbiest States in the U.S.
- They determined their list based on four criteria:
- Percent of population with a bachelor’s degree
- Percent of degree earners with a degree in arts and humanities
- Number of Ivy League colleges
- Gallons of wine consumed yearly (considered the snobbiest drink)
- Topping the list as the snobbiest state in the U.S. is Massachusetts, which of curse is home to the ultimate Ivy League school, Harvard.
- Massachusetts also boasts 42.9% of their population holding a college degree, with 24% having arts or humanities degrees.
- As for wine, the average Mass resident drinks 21 gallons per year.
Top Ten Snobbiest States in the U.S.

- Connecticut
- New York
- New Hampshire
- Rhode Island
- California
- Oregon
- Maine
- Virginia
- As for the last snobby state, that honor goes to West Virginia, where only 20% of adults have college diplomas and 19% are arts or humanities degrees. Folks in West Virginia also only consume 3 gallons of wine a year.
