Russell Dickerson delivered a ballad that serves as a sentimental tribute to his family when he took the Grand Ole Opry stage in Nashville, Tennessee. His performance on Wednesday evening (August 5) arrives shortly after he and his wife announced Baby No. 3 is on the way.

Dickerson stood on the iconic circle at the Opry — which was cut from the original Opry stage at the Ryman Auditorium, representing a cherished piece of country music history — to perform “Famous Back Home.” Dickerson credits his wife, Kailey Dickerson, as a songwriter for her inspiration on the song. He also teamed up with writers Parker Welling and Casey Brown to bring “Famous Back Home” to life, and co-produced it with Josh Kerr. It went on to serve as the title track of Dickerson’s latest studio album.

A clip of Dickerson’s “Famous Back Home” performance appears on the Grand Ole Opry’s Instagram story as of Wednesday evening (along with a glimpse of the moment Dickerson made his way through the audience as he performed his viral single, “Happen To Me”). The Opry congratulated Dickerson on his third child on the way. Dickerson and his wife announced on July 29 that they’re expecting Baby No. 3. The baby will join big brothers Remington Edward, who was born on September 10, 2020, and Radford Arthur, who arrived on October 1, 2023.

Dickerson is one of several country artists to welcome a baby into the family in 2026. Parker McCollum recently welcomed Baby No. 2 with wife Hallie Ray Light McCollum. Luke Combs, Thomas Rhett, iHeartRadio’s Bobby Bones and others have also announced new additions to the family earlier this year. Mitchell Tenpenny and Meghan Patrick, Runaway June’s Natalie Stovall, Emmy Russell (former American Idol contestant and granddaughter of late legend Loretta Lynn), and others also have babies on the way.
