Jake Owen poked fun at the “hate” he received for driving a Tesla Cybertruck as he debuted his rendition of “Them Old Love Songs” on Friday (August 8).

Owen’s “Them Old Love Songs,” featuring Savannah Conley, is the latest track to release from the country artist’s Dreams to Dream project (he also credited musician Leroy Powell as part of the “soulful new chapter” in a recent post). Owen previously said he worked with friend and record producer Shooter Jennings, son of late legend Waylon Jennings, “to be able to record a Waylon song, one of my favorites.”

The “Barefoot Blue Jean Night” hitmaker announced his song’s debut on Friday while joking about his recent Cybertruck backlash. Owen spoke about “Them Old Love Songs” and offered a glimpse of the truck, saying in the clip, “what a**hole drives this? Idiot!” He wrote in his caption on Instagram, “Them Old Love Songs sounds awesome in a Cyber Truck.” Owen previously said he’s “starting to feel the hatred in this country,” when he first started to receive “hate” in response to the vehicle. He considered, “I think I might have to get rid of this Cybertruck,” and has since started to make jokes about it. He previously shared a photo of himself on a bicycle on his Instagram story, set to “Thunder in Your Heart” by John Farnham, featured in the 80s film, Rad. He said at that time: “Maybe I’ll just ride my ’87 GT today. You can’t hate on something this rad.”
