A country singer sues Uber after being seriously injured in an accident

Months after suffering multiple injuries, including a fractured neck in an automobile accident, Texas country artist Rich O’Toole is suing Uber, holding his driver at fault.

According to a press release, Rich contracted an Uber car on February 25 to drive him to dinner before his show that night in Amarillo. He alleges that his driver got lost, stopped the vehicle in the middle of the highway and was then “rear-ended at high speed” by another car. The impact caused the singer-songwriter’s injuries and also resulted in the cancellation of multiple shows, including a headlining appearance at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo’s barbecue championship.

In the statement, Rich says, “Emergency neurological surgery, and the thoughts and prayers of my family, friends and fans, saved me from being permanently paralyzed. My recovery continues to be a long one — medically and musically.”

Rich’s legal representative, Michael Doyle says, “This lawsuit is intended to help Rich O’Toole continue recovering from his injuries but also force Uber to be accountable for the negligence of the drivers it controls in Texas and around the nation.”

Fortunately, Rich’s newest album, “American Kid,” was still released earlier in 2017 and on July 27, he announced a new single, “God and George Strait,” was available for pre-order on iTunes. He also shows tour dates planned for August and September.
