There are an almost endless number of websites for online shopping, but it turns out, a few key players get most of the action. New research reveals the most popular e-commerce sites in the world and Amazon still sits at the top of the list.
- The ranking from We Are Social is based on average monthly global Internet traffic between June and August 2025.
- It finds that Amazon isn’t just number one, it dominates by a huge margin, claiming more than two-fifths (43%) of total visits to the world’s 20 biggest retail sites.
- The site gets about 2.7-billion visits per month worldwide, which is over 1-billion more than the second-most-visited e-commerce site, Temu, that gets 1.6-billion.
- It’s a huge drop down to number three, the Chinese platform AliExpress, which gets 646-million monthly visits.
- According to the study, the top five platforms make up nearly 60% of total global traffic.
- Popular sites in the U.S. not cracking the top 10 include Etsy at number 11, Target at 15, and Ticketmaster at 20.
