Anti-Aging Drug For Dogs Moves Closer To FDA Approval

San Francisco biotech company Loyal has announced that a drug that may lengthen the life of large-breed dogs is another step closer to getting approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Loyal claims the drug LOY-001 could help to slow down the aging process for dogs 40 pounds or more.

So, how the heck does it work? LOY-001 works by interacting with a hormone called IGF-1 that speeds up aging in larger canines. The drug is designed to prevent age-related doggie diseases instead of waiting until symptoms appear, according to a company spokesperson.
