Adopt Akeela! WACO 100 Pet of The Week

Waco 100’s Pet of the Week is Akeela. Akeela is a gorgeous, incredibly sweet girl, who is anxiously waiting for her family to come rescue her.

Akeela is a great girl. She understand several basic commands, takes treats gently, and she’s eager to please. She’s also affectionate, and she adores everyone she meets. She enjoys exploring, likes to swim, and she’ll let you scratch her back as long as you want.

Her only negative is she’s tired of living inside a small kennel and desperately wants to leave. She gets a bit excited when someone approaches, and she is vocal, letting guests know her feelings about shelter living.

Once outside her kennel, she’s a quiet, calm, perfect angel. This lovely lady has been waiting for her forever home since 5/12 and is currently the shelter’s longest resident. She needs a home as soon as possible. The kennels remain constantly full, which puts her life in danger.

Akeela is a two-year-old, female, Stafford Terrier mix. Her adoption fee is sponsored, which means she is free to adopt to an approved adopter.

Interested in sponsoring an urgent dog like Akeela, but are not sure what a sponsorship entails? A sponsorship is when an individual pays the adoption fee, making the animal free to an approved adopter. Sponsorships may help the pet find a home quicker. A sponsorship can go to a particular dog or it can be floating and placed wherever needed.

An adoption fee is $50.00 for adult dogs and cats and $75.00 for puppies and kittens. The fee covers spays and neuters, microchipping, vaccinations, and heartworm preventive. If you’d like to sponsor a shelter animal, you may go in person or you can call (254) 754-1454.

Speaking of sponsorships, if you’re looking to adopt a sponsored dog, The Humane Society of Central Texas will be hosting the annual, nationwide Clear the Shelter Event, on Saturday, August 18. Plan to visit 2032 Circle Rd between 11-5. There will be FREE adoptions, door prizes, and loads of fun. It’s a great time to add a new family member, and it’s even a better time to save a life!
