Amazon’s New Program Will Donate Unsold & Returned Items To Nonprofits

Amazon wants to keep unsold merchandise out of the trash and they’re starting a new program to make it happen. Beginning in September, the’ll donate merchandise their third-party sellers were unable to sell or that was returned to nonprofit groups through the program Fulfillment by Amazon Donations, which will operate here in the U.S. and in the U.K.

The e-commerce company’s third-party sellers have the option of having merchandise they store in Amazon’s warehouses returned to them or thrown away, but with this program, the merchandise they want tossed will be given to charity instead. Sellers can also opt out if they choose.
