A little over 30 years ago, Anthony Hopkins got a script that he thought would be a children’s story… until he realized he’d be playing a cannibal killer in “Silence Of The Lambs.” Hopkins has reunited with his co-star Jodie Foster in honor of the movie’s 30th anniversary, in a new sit-down for “Variety.”
It turns out Hopkins and Foster have kept in touch – the last time they spoke was when Hopkins’ movie “The Father” came out last year. Foster reveals that she has a “personal relationship” with dementia, since her mother had it. Hopkins says that “The Father” and “Silence Of The Lambs” have something in common – they’re some of the best scripts he’s ever read.
Hopkins also calls Hannibal Lecter the absolute “best part” he’s ever been approached with… and although he’d go on to win an Oscar for the role, Hopkins reveals he was “almost too scared” to speak to his co-star at first since she had just won an Oscar –and the feeling was mutual.
