Back in 2017, Apple removed a feature from their iPhone line that shook the smartphone existences of many of their customers…the “home” button. It was probably the simplest feature the phone had that you didn’t have to learn to use. Just click the “home” button and your screen went back to the main screen, and you could talk to Siri. The move was made to make room for more secure features like facial recognition, which became a problem for some during the days of mask-wearing. Then, then, in 2020, the iPhone SE models, including the new SE3, reverted to the “home” button…adding some comfort to those who’d grown to know and love it. Don’t get used to it, though. Insiders say that facial recognition software is eventually going to come down in price, and the “home” button is likely to disappear again in the next couple years…this time for good.
