Some people are just not meant to be in positions of authority. A Pennsylvania State Trooper is behind bars and being held without bail after scheming to – and for almost a week, getting away with – committing his ex-girlfriend to a psych ward. Here’s the story: Ronald Davis, a PA state trooper who’s married with kids, allegedly had a relationship with another woman for several months that went south. His plan to get her involuntarily committed spawned from text messages he shared with the victim – when, selectively edited, made it appear that she was considering self-harm. Davis then took the texts and created a story that eventually led to his assaulting and apprehending the victim on the premise that she was being taken in to a mental health facility for her own good. The problem – the full context of the text exhanges painted an entirely different picture, one where the ex was growing increasingly irritated with Davis’ controlling ways. He got an order to bring her in, which he did – all of which was captured on body cam. During her apprehension, the victim received various bodily injuries before being taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Schuykill, where she was held for five days. Upon her release, she was interviewed by police and the whole picture began to take shape. Davis is facing charges of felony strangulation, unlawful restraint, false imprisonment, simple assault, official oppression and recklessly endangering another person.
